"My intellectually disabled son had been on the ID Waiver Waitlist for over a decade. Our case worker in Chesapeake told us that would continue because there were so many in front of him in our region. We moved to the Peninsula and was immediately assigned to an outstanding case manager who advocated for Quincy as we traversed the Medicaid Waiver appeal process. After months of wading through the process, we were finally successful and had to investigate his available housing options. It was clear that of all the choices we visited, the Wilderness Lane House is head and shoulders above the alternatives. The diverse, well-trained and caring staff have made the transition smooth, and calmed my fears about having him living “on his own”. They keep him structured and incorporate his individual activities into the flow of the house. He loves his roommate, and they go out for events, to the mall, to bowling and to church together. My son now calls Wilderness Lane House his home and is anxious to get back when he comes to visit. If you are looking for a great environment for your new waiver recipient, consider Wilderness Lane House. The great communication and caring staff ease all concerns of parents making this important decision for their special children." - T. A.
